You didn’t come here to hear it’s useful to have a strong professional network.

Your inner hunch, that it’s probably helpful, is backed by data. According to LinkedIn, more than 70% of professionals get hired where they already have a connection.

But what seems to work so well for others, somehow isn’t working for you:

Maybe you feel like you don’t know any of the right people; that your network’s too small; that it’s not helpful enough. Maybe you feel you’ve got tons to offer, but can’t get anyone to care. Maybe you’re questioning your value, secretly scared of reaching out.

So much of the advice on building a professional network urges you to put yourself out there in person, but ignores the emotional struggle: that of feeling small, embarrassed, exposed.

Well, online networking doesn’t have to be any of this.

What’s more, once emotional barriers are lowered, the actual networking part becomes easier than you could ever imagine. If this article does even a reasonably good job, networking will start getting easier today.
