A successful upskilling training program requires several steps:

  • Create and implement personal development plans

Help your employees to create a Personal Development Plan. This will help you determine what skills your staff want to learn and what skills they want to develop. Giving your staff the freedom to create their plans is critical to the success of any upskilling program.

  • Schedule time during the workday

Once staff members have created their development plans, help them find time to attend classes or complete online courses during the workday.

  • Provide job-specific upskilling and credentialing programs.

You can help your employees stay current by providing them with upskilling programs. For example, if you have specialized software not used by most of your employees, consider training the people interested in learning more about it.

Consider offering employees professional training programs that result in digital badges. These programs are known as credentialing programs, which digital badge makers create.
