Tile Editing Improvements

As you know, clicking the pencil on a tile takes you to a screen where you can edit various settings for that tile. We just made two improvements to this screen.

  1. You can see the thumbnail on this screen, and when you edit it, it shows the new one right away. It also reminds you what size it will be displayed at, which is helpful if you make custom thumbs.
  2. For embedded content like YouTube videos and web articles, you can change the URL. This will allow you to replace the content or fix defunct links without affecting anyone’s completion data associated with the tile.

Rename Lists

Okay, you could rename user lists already, but it was sort of a hidden feature since you had to click the title at the very top, and nothing about it looks clickable. Now you can just click the pencil by the big title to rename it.

New Sanity Check

One of the beloved subtleties of Skillo is what we call sanity checks: little warnings when you are about to do something that might have unintended consequences. We just added another one.

In Skillo, it’s easy to add a large group to a course, but some users find it too easy — and do it accidentally. Now, there is a warning to make sure you know you’re about to add more than 500 people to one course. As with other sanity checks, it doesn’t slow you down if you know what you’re doing. This area only appears when there’s something to warn you about, so just do yourself a favor and always read whatever pops up here before you commit to it!
