Lets reflect on the previous blogs that where posted last week. In all of these blog posts we discussed important parts of communication, and we also walked through different ways to improve these skills. The skills that we discussed were active listening, public speaking, team work, and communicating with your fellow peers.

In the post about active listening we learned the importance fully understanding the speakers message. The tips that were given to accomplish this skill was to listen to your speaker and try to put pull out the main theme, evaluate their main point, and pay attention to what words they use in their statements. We also learned that since there is a mutual understanding on what the speaker is taking about, the message will carry more meaning to the audience.

Another topic covered in one of my blog post was public speaking. The talking points of this post was that with this skill you will carry it throughout life no matter where you end up. Improving this skill is done through practice and owning your stage. This means to relax and don’t get intimidated by anyone in the audience.

We also found that team work can go a long way. Being a good team player shows your boss that you are an asset to the company and that you are also reliable. This is done through playing to your strengths and other members strengths. Don’t forget to make sure everyone in your team is heard.

Communication between peers is paramount, and knowing how to say is important. We learned that in a conversation feedback is key, and being able give good feedback with insulting them can be tricky. Also we should be mindful of what topics we bring up because they can cause unwanted arguments, which can effect the message of your conversation.
