Whether you are an iOS developer or are conscious of what office-life is doing to your health, these five most popular tech talks from last year’s iOSCon in London are sure to answer a few questions.

5. A Whistlestop Tour of Core ML

CTO of Razeware (who run raywenderlich), Sam Davies spoke last year on the principles of Machine Learning and the introduction of Core ML, and his talk ranked as our 5th most popular Apple-related talk.

“Back when I did ML, we called it statistics. Really it is statistics, but the trouble with the term statistics is it’s not very sexy…so we invented a new term called ‘Machine Learning’.”

This is a great resource for developers or just about anyone else who wants an introduction to Machine Learning and Apple’s Core ML.

4. Pull Requests Are Language

iOS/OS X developer, Abizer Nasir, spoke last year in a brief tech talk on pull requests.

“I don’t think pull requests and code reviews related to them are actually used enough as a means of talking to each other.”

Nasir highlights the importance of pull requests, raising them above misconceptions about their role.

“If you keep on track of this list of pull requests, it’s like a high-level overview of all the changes that are going into master.”

3. The Stand Up

Phil Nash — Developer Advocate at JetBrains and author of test frameworks Catch- for C++ and Objective-C, and Swordfish for Swift — spoke last year on the importance of combatting the negative health effects of sitting too long in the day.

With those sitting for more than 6 hours in the working day 40% more likely to die within 15 years than those sitting for less than 3 hours in the working day, Nash’s short talk is an amazing eye-opener and incentive to simply stand up.

Sergey Shulga, an iOS developer at Babylon Health, gave our second-most popular Apple-related talk last year when he spoke on the practical aspects of Domain-Driven Architecture.
