Skillsoft and Beyond
Now that I am approaching almost a year of being at Skillsoft, it’s crazy to think about how far I’ve come since I started. I have learned so much throughout this experience and have gained things that I know I will carry with me throughout the trajectory of my future career. While I could go on and on about all the specifics of what I have learned, there are a couple of lessons that I feel have had the most significant impact in my time here — that includes teamwork makes the dream work and believing that you are always learning.
As cheesy as ‘teamwork makes the dream work’ sounds, my time at Skillsoft has been a direct reflection of that sentiment. From day one, I have collaborated alongside a team working towards a greater whole. Being a part of a working environment such as Skillsoft and being thought of as an integral part of getting the work done has meant the world to me as a young professional. Ever since the beginning, the other employees of Skillsoft have always made me feel part of the team and have entrusted me to get the work done. Having this sense of trust from a miscellaneous group of individuals who are all at different parts of their career has been truly incredible. The teamwork that I had mainly been exposed to prior to this was through group projects in school and other tasks, all of which had never performed in the balanced way that it does at Skillsoft. It is evident here that teamwork is quite literally what this company is made of. Everyone conducts their own moving part and relies on one another to operate. Collectively, we keep Skillsoft functioning and thriving. Skillsoft has taught me the importance of teamwork and trust which is something that I will take with me throughout my career.
Another thing that I have learned here at Skillsoft is that you are always learning. While that may be considered a given since Skillsoft is an e-learning based company, I certainly did not anticipate the scope of what I would be learning throughout my time here. Learning is not just emphasized through the work that we promote but rather is also embraced in our everyday here. Every employee at every level is always learning from one another and that is so valuable. To be a part of a company that embraces the value in learning and evolving as a company as well has been such a treat and I have loved collaborating with my team and learning something new from them every single day.
Overall, my time here at Skillsoft has been wonderful. Not only have I learned more about myself as a professional, but as an individual as well. Throughout the entirety of my college career, I had no idea of what I wanted my actual career path to look like and where my life would be headed after graduation. However, working at Skillsoft has given me a greater perspective of the marketing professional world and where I fit into it. I know that I still have a lot of time ahead of me career wise but because of Skillsoft, I can say I am a much more confident worker that is itching to continue learning about the professional world and myself in the years to come.
