Winner will Receive a Prize Package Valued at up to $50,000

Skillz recently launched the 2020 Kickoff Challenge in search of the next hit mobile game. Developers who complete Skillz integration, launch a mobile title and provide the game’s live App Store link before December 31 will receive a personalized game review from our design experts. The winner will earn a prize package worth up to $50,000 — including a test user acquisition (UA) budget, Game Launch Optimization Services and two passes to GDC 2020.

Skillz connects over 2.6 billion gamers through social competition, powering over 4 million daily mobile tournaments through its unique platform technology while driving revenue in a repeatable and scalable way for developers. By entering the 2020 Kickoff Challenge, game developers can gain access to user acquisition (UA) solutions, live operations, player support services, and analytics needed to build successful businesses.

Historically, mobile game developers have monetized content through ads and in-game purchases, which often created negative player experiences. Skillz has revolutionized the traditional developer revenue model by focusing on a player-first experience. This allows developers to focus resources on important features like fair gameplay and player engagement, leaving behind the days of optimizing for third party ads that cannibalize player bases.

Mobile gaming is now the most important market for mass media and interactive entertainment — 70–80% of App Store revenue comes directly from games. The Total Addressable Market (TAM) could be as many as 6 billion people in the next 10 years.

Finland-based indie game developer, Rivals LLC won this summer’s Global Game Developer Challenge by creating Soccer Rivals, a multiplayer game that lets competitors showcase their free-kick skills, score stunning goals, and hit precise targets in competitive tournaments.

The 2020 Kickoff Challenge submissions will be judged based on game design, cross-platform compatibility, player retention (D1 & D7 performance), replayability, daily active users, and compliance with eligibility. Selected games will be announced on or around February 5, 2020.

There are countless benefits to joining the mobile gaming space and we are looking to give developers the opportunity to thrive. Will your mobile game be the next big hit? Accept the challenge and find out! If you have any questions please contact us at integrations@skillz.com.
