If you suffer from dry, flaky skin, you’re certainly not alone. While it’s tempting to add products to your cart on Nykaa and spend your money on a bunch of fancy products (we do love our fancy products), it’s also one that you can combat with some make-at-home moisturizing skincare. Whether your skin is dehydrated because of the elements, dry from the natural aging process, or parched for some reason you can’t determine, these recipes are for you.

Here are some things to consider in the meantime:

i) Every skin has different needs. Just because something works for a friend, doesn’t necessarily mean it will work for you. So if you try one of these recipes and find the results to be less than ideal, you may need to tweak it, or even move on to another.

ii) Water. Lots of water. People who have gleaming skin tend to drink lots of water.

iii) Rethink your cleanser. If you have dry skin, use a creamy cleanser that won’t strip it of oils.

iv) If you have skin sensitivities, you’ll want to do a test of these recipes on your neck first. However, since these ingredients are pure enough, most people (who aren’t allergic to the ingredients themselves) won’t have a problem.

Here are some ingredients-you-probably-have-in-your-kitchen that will do great things to your skin.

1. Milk cream and honey

Milk cream or malai is one of the best natural moisturizing creams that you can apply on your skin to make it supple and soft. Milk works beautifully to moisturize dry skin and its lactic acid does wonders for removing dried skin cells. Honey is great to clear your skin off the bacteria that are responsible for the growth of pimples and acne on your face.

All you need to do is to take a tablespoon each of milk cream and honey in a bowl and mix them well. Apply the mixture on your face and skin and leave it for about 15 minutes before rinsing it off with lukewarm water. Pat dry your skin and see the result; your skin will feel moisturized like never before. Follow the regime regularly.

2. Yogurt And Honey Pack

Yogurt moisturizes your skin, increases skin elasticity and prevents transepidermal water loss. Honey, as we already know, moisturizes the skin and keeps it supple.

You will need a bowl of yogurt and a tablespoon of honey. Mix yogurt and honey in a bowl and apply this mixture on your face. Rinse with water after 15 minutes. You can apply this mask two times a week.

3. Banana and milk

If your skin is patchy, it is time you hydrate it with a combination of milk and banana. (Note: if your skin is extremely oily, you can replace milk with rosewater too). Banana helps in peeling off dead skin and milk is a clarifying agent, so in case your skin has lost the glow, you know exactly what to do.

Take half mashed banana in a bowl and add one tablespoon of milk and mix it well. Apply it on your face and neck and leave it for 20 minutes and wash it off with warm water.

Go on, try these natural face-masks, made from easy-to-find ingredients in your kitchen, for soft and supple skin even in winters!
