Working In A Co-Working Space

A year ago, Skip-Q moved from home working to Silversquare, a co-working space. We decided to give you our thoughts about this new way of working.
When you’re working from home 5 days a week, you might feel a bit alone after a while, which rubs your motivation off very soon… However, working in a co-working space fits way better to small teams. We, indeed, discovered there a lot of benefits we couldn’t even imagine before signing the contract!
The community
Working in a co-working space is about creating a real network between people. The offices are made of open spaces. People can sit wherever they want and change desk everyday, which implies that they meet new people on a regular basis.
Working in such places makes you feel part of a community and has a positive impact on your work. The structure as well as the discipline there help you to keep your motivation high. Plus, even though your co-workers might work in completely different sectors as yours, they still help you to make your identity stronger. You exchange services, contacts, experiences, feedback, etc. with them. In short, you learn a lot from working next to hundreds of amazing entrepreneurs. The culture is based on collaboration, community, learning & sustainability.

The space
Co-working spaces provide you a lot of services. At Silversquare, you can fulfill all your needs! You can find individual boxes, big desks, phone cabines, small or big conferences rooms, kitchenettes, a garden and even showers!
A lot of people used to say that co-working spaces reduce your productivity because your are always inattentive due to the other people working around. I completely disagree with that point of view. I instead believe that those people give you more motivation as you see them working hard. You see them reaching their objectives and flirting with success, which therefore push you harder in your work. If you really need a moment alone, you can then book a private box for a few hours. On the other side, if you’re going to have a meeting with your colleagues or clients (and make noise) you also have the opportunity to book conference rooms.
At Silversquare, many events are organised. Every Wednesday, the team prepares us afterwork in collaboration with different companies. There are like meet & great events where people can enjoy a beer after a stressful day or meet their new co-workers. Conferences are also often welcomed during lunch time. The topics as well as the inspiring hosts differ every time. Other activities such as yoga classes, team buildings, breakfasts, etc. are the extras!
Last but not least, at Silversquare, we are lucky to be welcomed everyday by the amazing reception team. They are always there to help you no matter the problem (coffee machine, internet connection, package delivery, clients greetings, etc.). They make sure you feel as confortable as you should. They are the foundations of this co-working space.

How to choose the perfect co-working space?
If you finally decide to work in a co-working space and to live in the spirit of the times, you need to find the one that perfectly fits you. Here are therefore some tips & advices to pick the right one!
- Location. You don’t want to spend hours in the traffic jam? Choose a place close to your home & business. You love running during break times? Choose a place near a park. Just don’t forget to think about the accommodations you need for your work.
- Testing. Try different spaces before signing the contract. In Brussels, you can find a lot of co-working spaces and you might test them before for free.
- Personality. If you are a shy person but know someone working in a co-working office, prefer this place. Your contact will introduce you and you will create a network more easily.
- Budget. If you don’t want to spend a lot of money on your work space, first set a budget up and then compare the different prices. Finally pick the one that fits your budget.
- Interests. Think of what you need and what you love, don’t choose the place because it’s the new trendy place in Brussels.

What about you? Are you also working in a co-working space? Did you know such places existed? What do you think? Do you like it?
See you next week 😘
