Across the SKOOT team, we use the likes of Miro and Firebase to whiteboard our planning sessions and keep track of projects. Being such a versatile and global team there are, of course, many different opinions and problem-solving techniques which make these sessions invaluable for generating new ideas. We most recently had a 2-day planning session where we looked at how SKOOT had performed over the last quarter and where we wanted to be in the future. One thing that was very clear from our team discussions (and doodles) was that we see huge expansion plans for the app, where it is offered and what it can do. Let’s just say the product and tech team, in particular, will definitely be working in overdrive.

To get to where we want to be, we need more hands-on-deck and foresee a large number of hires across 2021. The members of the SKOOT team are pretty amazing already, partly because we pride ourselves on picking the best talent to do the job. In the past week alone, we have hired 3 brilliant people to join our tech team. We’re really excited about what each of them will bring to SKOOT and so we wanted to introduce them to you.

First up, we have Péter Gyüre who has joined SKOOT as a Software Engineer, and who will be focused on helping the app run smoothly and without bugs on mobile devices. Peter’s experience really packs a punch having worked in software development for 6 years across e-commerce, full-stack development and Android development, in 3 different countries: Hungary, France, and the UK.

If this isn’t impressive enough, Peter also produces trance music in his free time. Maybe the SKOOT app won’t be the only thing topping the charts. Peter is a gadget enthusiast, a football fan (Liverpool before you ask), and a travel-lover with a hunger for learning new languages. We hire people with passions and interests outside of work because we find this brings a more well-rounded and out of the box approach to problem-solving and work styles at SKOOT.

More diversity = more unique thought processes.

The exceptional Declan Warner has joined SKOOT as another Software Engineer. Not only is Declan a great addition to SKOOT being experienced in full-stack development but he is passionate about the company ethos saying, “I am excited about working with talented individuals to create a service that helps communities support each other while having a positive impact on the environment.”

Further to this, Declan is a bit of a number whizz, having studied Maths at Swansea (please do my number crunching for me). Living in the Rhondda Valleys in Wales means that Declan also loves the outdoors and spends time going on walks in nature. If you don’t know where that is, we have popped a picture down. We wouldn’t mind SKOOTin’ down there some time!

Rhondda Valleys

The third person to join SKOOT as a Software Engineer is Lucas Infante. Having worked in Software Development for 11 years and counting, Lucas is set to bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to the team. A lot of the work Lucas will be doing is centralised on fixing bugs in the app and developing new features for SKOOT. This work happening in the backend systems and microservices will be crucial to prepare SKOOT for all the exciting growth plans we have.

The SKOOT team is already pretty global, but we are covering even more ground now as Lucas is based out in Brazil! Other than being a BOSS with software, Lucas is also an avid animal lover, rock and metal fan and boardgame enthusiast. Sounds like a true SKOOTer to us!

We can’t wait to welcome many new faces to SKOOT in the future.
