Reeking Pandemic or normalcy?
Staying indoors, with high rises pricking the sky. The sky is half blue and half darkened with clouds. Sitting inside glass & concrete walls, teeming with masks people around. Even after returning to the office, amid the air-conditioned luxury, one feels the ravages of the pandemic. When you pass the popular cafeteria of the floor, you witness numbing silence where once echoed laughs & stories of people. No more team lunches & gatherings. Not yet. Not yet. What must have become of the caterers & friendly staff who helped us all with food until the world lost itself in a pandemic? But still, there are pockets of familiarity surviving and continues to exist.
Looking down from the window seat of the high rise tingles my heart. Seeing the cars go by and train to move across. I was half excited like a child to get back to school after summer break…the bittersweet feeling! Just the process of getting ready for the office, packing your bag, traveling to the office, taking the elevator up, swiping your access card and setting up your laptop on your desk, revived memories. Things that we did every day seemed so novel!
Covid has been a terror in our lives but it has also opened possibilities — like online events, meetings, etc. making the world a smaller place, bringing us together, bringing us closer. We were all united by one enemy and we forgot our differences & boundaries separating us. We were all the more sensitive & self-aware and confided in our people, shared our sorrows & feelings and confessions we never made before. Often nudging people to spill their hearts, as we were all living with aching hearts with fear in it!
