Dandelions at dawn

Nature’s rituals

Photo by Aleksandr Ledogorov on Unsplash

This morning,
The dandelions had retreated
They laid chameleon-like
In the un-mowed grass
The briskness of the dew
Was too much for them
And shamed,
They hid their bumblebee yellow smiles
In a tight pickle green hood
Shivering with anticipation
Till the butterscotch sun
Chased the paper moon away
Till it sugared the morning sky
With crystals of chartreuse light
