Do You Want to Know?
A questioning poem
Fear is a natural reaction to moving closer to the truth.
-Pema Chödrön
Fear chokes but does not kill;
We gasp but still breathe.
A moment freezes until motion thaws;
Silence takes command until words return.
Minds get muddled and confused
Until reason reclaims its territory.
In a panic, we run like prey,
Whether chased or not.
We hide in shadows, closets, and false personas
Until unearthed by ourselves or another.
Fear is the trigger but not the bullet
Fear is the push but not the fall
Fear is the question but not the answer
Fear is truth’s predecessor,
Leading the way to knowledge.
Do you want to know the truth?
