I am a writer.

How do I know this?

I am a writer because I can’t not write. It stemmed from being desperate to be understood and heard as a child, but when I said out loud ‘I may be a writer’, I was laughed at. And that was that. I filled my life with jobs that weren’t really me, but they paid the bills. I loved my years teaching because I loved the young people I worked with, but the system became more and more hostile to someone like me…
