My feet touched the grass

The first day of spring,
when sun-warmed air
brushes soft against the cheek,

Today I shall walk barefoot
upon newly springing grass,
thickened by new cut growth,

the burgeoning life of this new year.
It feels suddenly cold, removing layers
of boot and sock, lifting my foot tenderly
