of all the memories in
the North Woods of my
coming-of-age
none burns more brightly
than the aurora borealis —
when we stayed up all night
to see them.

Something beautiful is happening in the poetry community. It is the second half of this bewildering, stressful, tragic year. The whole world seems to be trapped in the same anguish, but there are small things that can help unite and support us. Poetry. We need words. We need reflections of people’s dreams and perspectives. We need to know what burns in each other’s hearts and minds, so that we may think and potentially act to be healing forces in this world.

Thank you to The POM and the poetry community for making our days a little brighter. Jenny Justice prompts us this week to look to the skies for inspiration. The poem above is my first of #StarWeek poetry. Here is her prompt:
