When I awoke I saw the world shining

I cannot embellish this, it is already whole
but I can play, and as I play I can heal those things which my species has done wrong, all those things that have broken our earth, all the things which threaten our world. The world doesn’t need me. I need it. I need it to nurture me, to feed me and my children. I am alive to this world and understand the world will evolve once more when we are all gone, destroyed by our own actions and the reluctance to change because it is not cost-effective for profit margins, and yet those profit margins are costing the planet her diversity. She will regenerate, perhaps we will too, who knows. All I know is that I wish her no harm and I do my little bits to help her heal.

What makes me come alive, writing about the beauty of this life, swimming in the wild seas around my home, gardening in my plot to create more food for more varieties of wildlife, from worms to beetles to butterflies and to dragonflies and birds. I smile because I am alive, it fills me with the deepest joy. It fills me with love even in…
