To the ghosts of a life
Of which I’ll never know,
For all the opposite decisions
I didn’t make,
And the people I didn’t meet,
I ponder all of the things I missed.
While I will never know you,
I acknowledge you,
Sometimes seek you,
Wishing to know you.
You are the ever present backdrop,
To each and every decision.
I flirt with the options
I know I will never choose,
Seeking to gain understanding and wisdom,
And maybe a second chance.
