Where Can I Find The Words?

Sky Collection — Poem 10

Photo by Guilherme Stecanella on Unsplash

I figured out words would fall on me
like heavy blankets
thesaurus sounds extinct
but that was some endangered assumption
me, as writer
searching the low horizon clouds
for how to come home
I trusted language to lead me
towards the rare earths
with more moons
than we have around here
I searched the eyes of poets
but they were also searching
as far as they could run
and here…
