Whittling Time

Sky Collection — Poem 86

what remains could be something
whittling time and scraping by
you spoke to me, a tin-can version
of a life we dared to try

holding dreams at a distance
as if being seen is the only proof
if I could shout some healing words
I’d climb up on our weathered roof
