Wren

a short poem about a short bird

Darting streak
tiny brown dot bird
a tick for a tail
twitching between twigs

dried stems, insect homes
crevices barely seen
disappears between crinkled
dried brown leaves.

Shrill chopping calls
sightings giveaway
hidings revealed in
territorial chanting.
