According to a new order by The Indian Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MEIT) , PUBG Mobile and PUBG Mobile Lite have been banned in India along with 116 other Chinese apps. This comes a few months after the government banned 59 Chinese apps that included TikTok, CamScanner, and more. Apart from PUBG Mobile, some of the popular apps on the list include WeChat Work, WeChat reading, Tencent, Baidu, Taobao, etc.

“The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has received many complaints from various sources including several reports about misuse of some mobile apps available on Android and iOS platforms for stealing and surreptitiously transmitting users’ data in an unauthorized manner to servers which have locations outside of India,” the Indian ministry said in a statement. “There has been a strong chorus in the public space to take strict action against apps that harm India’s sovereignty as well as the privacy of our citizens.”

SkyVPN’s testing personnel reported today that PUBG Mobile was still available on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store, and players were able to play the game as well. But this situation, if history is any guide, may not last for long. Once the ban proceeds to implementing phrase, PUBG Mobile will be pulled from the app store, and even players who have already installed the game will be unable to play it.

With over 40 million monthly active users in India, PUBG, or PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, has won great success in the country and across the globe. Since the beginning of 2020, especially during the outbreak of the coronavirus and ongoing lockdowns, the mobile version of the popular FPS online game has become a popular way to relieve stress and gain inner peace. This has caused PUBG Mobile players to wonder whether the game will still work using a Virtual Proxy Network or VPN.

In July 2020, SkyVPN, a leading virtual private network provider, has launched PUBG server in addition to its game server, which are specially established for online gaming. The expansion of servers is designed to support radically scale up demands for multiplayer games like PUBG.

“After continuous optimization and update, SkyVPN has optimized servers and carried out stress tests to ensure the new servers perform perfectly in the speed and stability part ,” stated product manager of SkyVPN. “ For battle royale shooter games like PUBG, having a stable internet connection is the essential condition to win the battle. SkyVPN’s PUBG server is designed to satisfy the needs of PUBG Mobile players.”
