A Proposal To Replace All Bible Verses With Taylor Swift Lyrics

I’m sorry, but the old Bible can’t come to the phone right now.

My mother taught me to find comfort and strength in Bible verses during tough times — the Holy Book, she said, is full guidance from a higher power. It’s a reminder that I am never alone, not even in my darkest hours.

But it’s been years since I’ve picked up a Bible. And the Bible was probably written for the only people who could read back then, which were old land-owning men in 500 A.D. Fortunately, I have since found a new source of spiritual nourishment, in the form of Taylor Swift’s discography. I don’t mean to force my opinions onto anyone, but it’s time to replace the millennium-old text with words more relevant to modern life.

Exhibit A: We can replace the Epistle of Timothy from the New Testament with the song Fearless from the album Fearless.

“For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.” — Timothy 1:7

“You pull me in and I’m a little more brave/ It’s the first kiss, it’s flawless, really something, it’s fearless” — Fearless 2:1
