Excerpts From My “Spy Kids” Fan Fiction
Long live the Thumb Thumbs.
Author’s note: I’ve been receiving lots of mail from readers asking when the Spy Kids are going to appear in my Spy Kids fan fiction. My answer to this inane query is never. The Thumb Thumbs (the walking thumb bodyguards of Fegan Floop, arch-nemesis of Juni and Carmen Cortez) are the only things that matter in Spy Kids.
“I don’t understand what you’re asking me, Thurb,” said Fegan Floop.
Thurb, Floop’s head Thumb Thumb, swayed clumsily on the spot, straining to balance himself on his thumb legs.
“We’re always falling all over the place,” said Thurb. “We can’t see anything, because our faces are thumbs. And, well, since you made us — maybe you could remold our bodies into something that makes a little more sense.”
“What an absolutely preposterous thing to say to me,” said Floop.
“I know, sir, but —”
“Enough of this nonsense.” Floop waved his hand dismissively. “Do your special thumb dance.”
“Sir —”
“Now, Thurb.”
Thurb sighed and began cart-wheeling around on his thumbs. Floop laughed and clapped his hands gleefully.
