I got inspired

If you want to make six figures like me, you can’t just sit around waiting for it — you’ve got to get out there and see what other people are doing. Find some figures that speak to your preeminent mood-state so you can create your own. If I was going to make six beautiful figures that would shock the community, I’d have to challenge myself by studying figures I’d never seen before. I needed a rush of adrenalin — one unrelated to the fact I was out of food again and would have to steal some to make it through the week. For myself, this meant pirating an obscure Japanese claymation film some dude told me about in the bathroom at a crust punk show. I was young. I was alive. I was hungry to create some amazing figures and also for sustenance. Cheetos? Cheetos.

I got resourceful

If there is one thing I learned while making six figures it is this: anyone can do it. They sell everything you need at the craft store. And though the birthday money from my estranged Aunt could only cover a bag of clay, a bag of Cheetos, and two Diet Cokes, I knew I could easily sneak out a few paint bottles plus a second bag of Cheetos in my windbreaker. These are the hurdles you will face. You’ll need to be able to think on your feet to dodge mall security, catch the only bus that comes anywhere near the craft store, and get back home so…
