Basic class supplies:

  • Youth backpack with frame
  • Youth sleeping bag with sub-freezing rating
  • Youth hiking boots with set of traction cleats
  • 5" fixed steel blade knife with sheath and sharpener

Lesson 1. Moving Around In The Forest

People sometimes find themselves alone in the forest because they are seeking safety after the government has fallen to domestic terrorists. They should:

  • Look for painted stripes on trees. These stripes, known as blazes, mark trails. Staying on the trail is important while escaping death.

Lesson activities:

  • Look up domestic terrorists. Use the words in a sentence.

Lesson 2. Settlement Sites In The Forest

People should expect to raise their own food in order to prevent starvation while avoiding violent political conflicts. Stone walls near stands of slender trees are signs of good garden spots.

  • The stone walls are made from rocks farmers cleared from the nearby area, saving today’s refugees months of work while they’re waiting for the Internet to come back.
