This Week On Our Breakfast Cereal Podcast We’re (Inexplicably) Tackling Systemic Racism
As podcasters, we have a responsibility to use our platform for the greater good. That’s why this week, our breakfast cereal podcast, “Just for Kix,” is doing something a little bit different. Instead of releasing our review of Trader Joes’ Tiny Fruity Cuties cereal, we’ve decided our next episode will take on an issue near and dear to our hearts: systemic racism.
Of late, your “Just for Kix” co-hosts have started to feel like our various text-heavy yard signs and assortment of flags are not doing enough to enact meaningful change. Hence, the need for this week’s very important episode. We understand that we might not be the most likely candidates to take on a subject like systemic racism for a variety of reasons. The most obvious being that our podcast focuses on breakfast cereals. There are other reasons too, like the fact that we punctuate our jokes with slide whistles and fart sound effects and refer to our listeners as “The Cinnamon Toast Bunch.” But if you’ve ever listened to our show, you know there’s more to us Fruit Loops and Wheaties. That’s why we think this week’s episode is going to enrich the cultural conversation while providing definitive “food for thought,” but not food in the breakfast cereal sense because we’re not doing that this week.
