It’s been a tumultuous year for anyone whose life belongs to the theatre. We at The Broadway League and the American Theatre Wing were forced to postpone 2020’s ceremony due to the COVID-19 global pandemic, the greatest intermission of them all. And though there have been no live productions upon which to bestow our beloved statues, that doesn’t mean our brilliant Broadway stars have been idle this year. In fact, they’ve been busier than ever, hosting benefits, singing their hearts out over Zoom, and guest-appearing on many, many podcasts. It seems only right to celebrate the achievements they’ve made in the past year anyway, through a new, modified selection of categories:

Best Costumes

  • Audra McDonald for “Blazer During Talk Show Appearance”
  • Christian Borle for “Shirt That Looked Freshly Ironed at Starbucks”
  • Barbra Streisand for “High Heels during Zoom Benefit Even Though Feet Were Offscreen”
  • WINNER: Jonathan Groff for “Non-elastic Pants while Walking Dog”

Best Performance

  • Scott Rudin’s Investors for “We Are Shocked and Betrayed to Hear of His Behavior”
  • Hugh Jackman for “This Isn’t About Me, Delay The Music Man”
  • WINNER: Sutton Foster for “Oh No…
