Volatile Stock Market Or Your Crazy Ex?
Sometimes, inanimate objects have the same characteristics as animate ones.
Presents both opportunities and risk. On the one hand, when they’re up, it’s a whole lotta fun and euphoric; on the other hand, when they go down, a sense of dread and depression looms large.
Causes high levels of stress, sometimes out of nowhere. This could be due to something not going precisely as planned; or, something more inane like a silly comment from a politician, a social media troll, or a TikTok influencer.
Sentiment toward them shifts rapidly: you go from complete and utter adoration to “I give up, I’m throwing in the cards. D-O-N-E.”
Obsession over them can cause long term damage, resulting in loss of property, goods, safety, and sanity.
Gaslighting is common, and you may even believe the reality in which you find yourself (Why yes, taking out a HELOC to cover their recent decline is a good idea) — until it’s too late, and they have run off with your life savings. And possibly your sister too.
As is also common, they may refuse the break-up you initiate, insisting this was a short-term error in your judgment. They are “in it for the long-haul”, they will pay back all they owe with 7.68% to 10.4% interest—depending on the year. See above, gaslighting.
