‘Ello, mate! Welcome to our period drama set in 16th century France, where everyone speaks in an English accent. I’m Ben, and I’m an assistant script supervisor here at the CW, where authentic storytelling is our fish and chips. Come on, let’s take a tour of our set!
Oh look, here’s Tyler coming out of his trailer! He’s our goofy American of the group. He plays the Dauphin of France, which is fitting because his mother is French, he grew up speaking it in the home, and also attended Yale School of Drama with a specialization in the French dialect. He’s just so good at what he does! Which just makes it that more difficult to get that crazy kid to do an English accent, but we try!
Over this way, you’ll find everyone’s favorite place on set: craft services! Here at crafty, we only serve beans on toast. We find that the beans on toast really helps our Canadian actors playing French characters who speak in an English accent really step into their role. And the best part? Our actors are literally shitting themselves through their authentic 16th century dresses that Diane, our Emmy award-winning costume designer, sewed by hand! Now our set smells just like the Black…
