Are you still reminiscing about the magic of Dreamforce? ICYMI, here are our top themes from Slalom’s featured sessions at Dreamforce covering Salesforce Net Zero Cloud (NZC), Slack, and Salesforce Customer Data Platform (CDP), with bonus insight on Salesforce Genie.

Theme #1: Making sustainable more attainable with Net Zero Cloud

In our featured session “Making Sustainable More Attainable,” Salesforce chief platform officer Katie Dunlap and global Net Zero Cloud capability lead Bryan Holloway shared how Slalom’s purpose — to help people and organizations dream bigger, move faster, and build better tomorrows for all — requires us to be “changemakers” to help organizations achieve their sustainability goals.

Sustainability maturity journey

Slalom has ambitions to be a changemaker and has set bold ESG (environment, social, and governance) impact goals across three areas:

  • Planet — How we take care of the planet and leave it better for all.
  • Communities— How we take care of the communities in which we live and work.
  • People — How we take care of our Slalom team and their families.

A more in-depth look at our 2020–2030 sustainability goals can be found in our 2021 Impact Report.

As we work through our own sustainability maturity journey, we’ve found that the most time and labor-intensive process is gathering data to baseline where we’re at and where we could go. What Slalom experienced in our first step of baselining is likely what your organization is experiencing as well — data was spread across various systems.

The average organization spends six to eight months collecting data and calculating its carbon footprint for ESG reports, strategies, and implementation action plans. Taking this into account, we needed a view into the data where we could see overall progress, opportunities, and risks captured in one place to track progress against our 2020–2030 impact goals. For Slalom, Salesforce Net Zero Cloud is one of the tools that’s helping digitize and visualize our environmental impact so our markets and operations teams can see how we’re progressing.

Slalom’s configuration of Salesforce went beyond the out-of-the-box capabilities to create an impact management accelerator that we also deliver to our clients. This tool enables Slalom and its clients to track progress toward public commitments, assess alignment to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and capture results to track the ROI of our initiatives. By going through the sustainability maturity journey ourselves, we have the experience and expertise to help clients implement NZC to meet their unique needs.

Theme #2: Unlock the power of Slack and Salesforce

As companies are rethinking and redefining how and where we work, Slack is playing an important role in leading the shift to a digital-first world. While the shift to digital was made overnight, now is the time to truly transform the way work gets done.

In Slalom’s featured session “Taking the Leap into the Future of Work One Step at a Time,” Katie Dunlap and Brian Elliot — SVP at Slack and executive leader of Future Forum — shared that there’s an opportunity to move from “retrofitting” to “redesigning” work. According to Future Forum, employees who work at companies they describe as technology innovators show higher scores for productivity, sense of belonging, and overall satisfaction. Their mission is to help companies build a more flexible, inclusive, and connected way of work.

With Slack, this is made possible. We used to think of the office as the center of work with digital tools as secondary. Now, it’s the reverse: Digital is your new HQ. After all, which one could your business do without: offices or software?

How Slalom can help design your digital floorplan with Slack

At Slalom, we’re helping organizations take the leap into the future of work by helping clients design their digital floorplans. Like a building floorplan, a digital HQ floorplan is carved up into rooms for digital work capabilities, with locations penciled in for the people, processes, and technology that jointly support flourishing knowledge work. Now is the time to consider where you are in your digital transformation with Slack and engage our team of Slack experts for a digital HQ assessment.

Theme #3: Turning data into meaningful customer moments

Today, marketers have more tools than ever to understand their customers and exceed their high expectations for personalized service. In Slalom’s featured session “DECIEM’s Customer Data Technology Makeover,” DECIEM’s senior director of eCommerce, Heather Stables, and Slalom managing director Jim Clarke shared how beauty and skincare industry disruptor DECIEM is investing in Salesforce to make “The Ordinary” product line’s omnichannel experience for consumers extraordinary. The duo dove into one of retail’s biggest challenges: unifying data. With CDP, retail companies can build unified customer data profiles that help marketers segment and activate marketing across channels.

However, we can’t ignore the rabbit in the room — Salesforce Genie was the largest announcement at Dreamforce. But isn’t Genie Salesforce CDP, and Salesforce CDP is Genie? While they go hand in hand, Salesforce CDP is the muscle behind the real-time data platform — Salesforce Genie.

These key product updates include:

  • Empowering organizations to take advantage of first-party data — Going beyond email and web personalization, Salesforce announced connectors with key first party activation sources, such as Meta and Amazon Ads, using Marketing Cloud Genie.
  • Reimagining customer engagement — Siloed customer touchpoints will be a thing of the past as customers expect a connected, seamless experience across the enterprise. Service and sales organizations need to be aware of marketing engagement to better inform conversations in real-time and drive enterprise use cases.
  • Data — Answering key feedback on Salesforce’s data infrastructure, Salesforce Genie can quickly access data stored in external systems. Salesforce Genie can also directly access data stored within Snowflake without moving or duplicating that data.

We’re also excited to announce that as of August 2022, Slalom is the first Salesforce partner worldwide to receive Full Stack designation on the Salesforce Marketing Cloud suite of products, inclusive of Salesforce CDP powered by Genie. Slalom has the deep expertise and skills to support you in your digital transformations, especially when it comes to complex cross-cloud implementations. We’ll help you assess your marketing automation maturity for Marketing Cloud — including powerful tools like CDP and Salesforce Genie — and make sure you’re well on your way to unlocking its full potential.
