At Slalom Denver, we have the vision of becoming one of the most impactful businesses in Colorado, creating sustainable and recognizable impact in our community. We’re also big believers in data and transparency, particularly when it comes to quantifying the impact our team is able to make within the communities we care so deeply about. In the spirit of both transparency and celebration, we’re happy to release information about our collective efforts as an office in 2019 to turn our passion into impact.

2019 was a year of growth and giving. As our team grew throughout the year, so did our ability to give back. Slalom Denver supported 50 programs, projects, and events that directly impacted nearly 67,000 individuals in the Denver community last year.

Through company contributions and employee giving and volunteering efforts, we partnered with 23 community organizations that collectively impacted the lives of 7.4 million people in 2019. Seventy percent of these organizations fell into our giving categories of education and health and human services, and 68 percent of our support focused on underrepresented minorities, low-income families, at-risk youth, and women and girls.

While the document features a collective view of our 2019 impact, we wanted to surface some highlights in this announcement.

Education

Much of our passion stems from the desire to help guide and support the workforce of tomorrow. Working with youth and empowering their discovery and growth inspires many of our initiatives, and our people. Our 2019 efforts impacted the lives of nearly 7,500 K-12 students throughout Colorado.

We partnered with Junior Achievement (JA) to host job shadows and participated in JA in a Day at Castro Elementary School. We also partnered with the Denver Public Schools (DPS) CareerConnect team through their mentoring and job shadow programs. In addition to these long-standing partnerships, we hosted Hour of Code events for employee and client families, teaching basic coding skills by programming and flying drones.

Partners for Good

The Partners for Good program, which supports employee giving and volunteering, is aligned to the passions of our people. From hosting quarterly blood drives, to charity walks and rides, trail maintenance days, working with JA and DPS students, and supporting our veterans, Slalom employees led 33 events last year, participating 509 times, all totaling over 1,700 volunteer hours. That’s over 42 weeks of full time work in volunteer hours!

Capacity for Impact

Capacity for Impact is our skills-based volunteer program for pro bono work, providing the avenue for consultants to give back. As a modern consulting firm focused on strategy, technology, and business transformation, this program is our primary vehicle for helping our nonprofit and public sector clients. In 2019, we completed 9 projects with 8 partners, giving back 916 skills-based volunteer hours to support strategic planning and project management efforts, build data visualization dashboards, host workshops, and help select the right CRM tools and cloud providers.

You can download the complete view of our 2019 Community Impact here. We are thrilled to share this information — the efforts it reflects were sincerely labors of love. We are passionate about working with our community partners and will do all we can to help them reach for and realize their visions. 2019 was an amazing year to give and grow within Colorado, and we look forward to sharing all we have accomplished with our incredible community partners in 2020 and beyond.
