One of the biggest conferences in cloud computing kicked off today — AWS re:Invent, a week-long tech bacchanalia held in vibrant Las Vegas, Nevada. Our Slalom Denver team has been preparing for the event for months, from selecting learning journeys to working with partners to creating events focused on diversity and inclusion in tech. It promises to be a week of knowledge sharing, innovation, connection, and real talk — both on stage and off.

We wanted to bring you along on our re:Invent experience, so you’ll be hearing from four Denver Slalomers who will be on the strip this week. Take a moment to meet them now, before you read their stories.

Alyssa Soenksen, Solution Principal

With focus areas in data architecture, data integration and engineering, master data management, and data governance, Alyssa is a leader within our data and analytics practice. In over three years at Slalom Denver, Alyssa has held technical leadership and solution architecture roles for a broad range of clients. She’s at re:Invent as both a technologist and a business leader, and her perspective on the event reflects that duality of role.

Ben Libell, Solution Architect

A technologist by trade, Ben is a software and cloud architect. His main focus areas are modern web backend implementation and AWS cloud architecture, and he’s at re:Invent to both deepen existing skillsets and grow new ones. Catch his perspective on prepping for re:Invent here. You’ll also hear more about his experience after the event.

Ash Epp, Consultant

A seasoned change management professional with over 17 years of experience, Ash joined Slalom Denver in 2017. In addition to a proven track record of helping senior leaders and C-Suite execute transformation initiatives in over 25 countries around the world, Ash has a passion for supporting other women in their pursuit of technical skills in the cloud and beyond. She’s attending re:Invent as both a student and an advocate, and you’ll find her on our Instagram @slalomdenver on Tuesday and here on Medium.

Kendyll Gooding, Consultant

Coming up on her five-year Slalom-versary next spring, Kendyll is a solution owner and delivery leader at Slalom Denver. Beyond that, she’s a pioneer for our diversity and inclusion initiatives both locally and with our global team. A co-founder and co-lead of Denver’s GLASS (Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, & Allied Employees Succeeding at Slalom) chapter, she has a passion for creating professional environments where individuals feel safe and empowered be their authentic and best selves. Read her re:Invent story.

When over 40,000 people converge to talk cloud and technology, there’s bound to be a plethora diverse opinions and experiences shared — join us for some of ours. Stay tuned this week for perspectives from each of these individuals.
