Why work remotely is the business happening now.

As around a year in gig economy or remote working or freelancer or short-term staffing types of businesses, I got some really interesting thoughts and consolidation here.

  1. Regional and international

From the initial impression that every sites operates in certain region/ country. It’s mainly because the main customer stands. However, talents could be from various countries, especially cost-effective regions. Therefore, from aspects of international operations, multi-national operations tends to be less than local countries of clients. One restriction to expand to regions is tax and law requirements could make noises to the business.

2. Talents are not really key to success

With the growing of the business, clients tends to search ‘professional’ Co-workers rather than only outsourcing a part-time job. One of the reason is these professionals charges almost same basic price as of freelancers and clients can pay only the time to leverage the services. Accompanied to this change, it’s more difficult for a ‘part-time’ freelancer to find a job and compete to almost ‘full-time’ freelancers. Thus, the change on remote working won’t change or hard to change people who didn’t acquire profession skills and have experiences on same fields. And some relative lower professional skills for such as customer services may require people who charge lower hourly rate to compete to people from advanced countries who charged higher rate naturally.

3. Embraces and trial

Work remotely has been trends in end of 19th centuries but dashed from end of 2000s. Thereafter, western companies changed policy to work from office. Managers often doubt performance from the view of teamwork, if not cost. For some jobs that can be done independently can promote to people who can work remotely and totally in order to save cost and flexibility on hiring choices. Therefore, large enterprises and SME likely to hire remote worker on the views of expenses reduction.

4. Transformation and de-formation

For people considers work remotely, it’s working style transformation. However, in the future, it’s not like or what you don’t like. Remote working style will be around us. A corporate for whatever big or small should try to design a flexible culture and systems to embrace the change.
