The rise of electric vehicles (EVs) marks a pivotal shift towards a more sustainable future. Yet, the reliability of EV charging infrastructure remains a significant hurdle. Founded by Kameale Terry and Evette Ellis, ChargerHelp! is the embodiment of innovation born from necessity.

The Birth of ChargerHelp!

For co-founder Kameale Terry, her journey into the world of EV charging began during her time at EV Connect (a charging station software provider), where she was the Director of Programs. “I got really interested in the space and there were also a lot of issues within the industry,” Kameale recalls. Her curiosity and desire to solve these problems led her to Startup Weekend, where she not only participated but won the entire pitch competition- the same weekend she came up with the idea for ChargerHelp!.

Co-Founder Evette Ellis compliments ChargerHelp!’s mission through her expertise in people and workforce development. Before co-founding ChargerHelp!, Evette worked at the U.S. Department of Labor’s Job Corps specializing in Career Transition Services, and has over 15 years of experience creating impactful and effective workforce development solutions through reskilling, job placements, and outreach and retention in minority workforce communities.

Together as co-founders, Evette and Kameale would eventually build a company that would not only fix charging stations but also empower a new workforce to rise with the evolving industry.

Their journey, highlighted in our new Slauson Story video here, shares a narrative of community, resilience, and innovation. Growing up on the same thoroughfare as our founders and general partners Austin Clements and Ajay Relan at Slauson & Co., Kameale’s connection to her roots played a pivotal role in the conception of ChargerHelp!.

“They were put on this earth to solve this very specific problem and were very uniquely qualified through the work they were already doing.”

-Ajay Relan, Slauson & Co. Managing Partner

The ChargerHelp! Solution

ChargerHelp!’ employs a dual strategy: the EMPWR platform’s technology and a competent workforce, achieving a notable 97% uptime for EV charging stations. Their offerings include Reliability as a Service (RaaS) for uninterrupted operations and a workforce development program for EVSE technicians, addressing both industry needs and community economic growth.

Beyond technology, ChargerHelp! champions environmental justice, especially in under-resourced minority neighborhoods. As a certified Woman Minority-Owned and Disadvantaged Business Enterprise, ChargerHelp! partners with local centers to elevate community economic and environmental health.

A Vision for the Future

As we look towards a future where electric vehicles are the norm, ChargerHelp! stands out as a critical player in ensuring that this future is equitable, reliable, and fully charged with possibility.
