Bits for the Weekend is a bi-weekly roundup of links we’re sharing and discussing in the office. Keep up with the daily buzz and follow us on Twitter.

We’re tapping into our artistic side this week. We’ve got a keyboard drummer for you to try, a quiz to test your Photoshop recognition, and collages of classical paintings in the modern world. But hold for the end, cause there are some bodybuilders questioning the general understanding of day-to-day life.

Crystal Knows Me

I’d like to introduce you all to Crystal, a sort of interpersonal communications mind-reading tool. Or at least it feels that way. Crystal sources public data about people to give you hints for how to best communicate with them. They use Obama as an example — he likes it when you send him humorous messages and emoticons, but doesn’t like it when you use the word “revolutionary.” And I of course searched myself… It’s kind of like reading a social media horoscope! It’s a bit general (who doesn’t like humor?), but could be interesting to experiment with. — Alicia

typedrummer

Converts letters to beats. Quite basic, still fun. — Vojta

Marius: Great Vojta… I’m addicted now.

Real or Photoshop Quiz

Who can tell what is real and what is photoshopped? ☺ — Mirka

Vojta: 16/25 for shoppage… ☺
Alicia: Ahahaa, that baby doing a pushup. Really? I scored 18/25… Was totally stumped by the woodpecker pic. What is that even??

Automattic Acquires WooCommerce

This could be good news for further Woocommerce development. It still has its pitfalls and complications which can be resolved now, as it does not have to differentiate so much. — Jakub

Google’s Latest Chrome Extension

Tone enables people to share URLs via sound. Simply open a tab, click the extension, and wait for a series of beeps.

Vojta: Sooo… Dial up?

Scenes of Gods in the Modern World

Glorious collages of classical paintings and modern urban settings. “Shut up and get on the tram, Satyr!” — Vojta

Source Code in TV and Films

Just a wee Tumblr site digging into the code seen in movies and TV. Some of them are quite interesting — I especially like the Ex Machina easter egg ☺ — Mirka

Marius: Some of those are hilarious!
Vojta: Cool! My favourite is from Elysium:
Next steps:
- cursor to the beginning of “illegal”
- delete “il”
- enter
- freedom!
Marius: Sometimes it is just that easy!
Vojta: That awkward moment when the whole tyrannical system relies on one string.

Tatasz

Cool fractal artist, and my favorite wallpapers. — Vojta

Backwards Brain Bicycle

If you fall off the bike, just get back on and keep riding. Right? But what happens when it’s engineered to undo everything you’ve learned?

Vojta: Inception

Full Body Workout Every Other Day?

Bodybuilders engaged in a metaphysical discussion about how many days there are in one week. — Jakub

Vojta: +10 for this gem ☺
Marius: At some stage you think everything is said, but someone shows up and just adds a whole new perspective to it, making you laugh once again! ☺
Andrej: There’s no palm big enough for my face.
Karl: I like TheJosh.
Vojta: I don’t always misuse memes, but:
