The first time I tasted this, my mind was blown. Who would believe the humble can of baked beans could set off fireworks on the palate. I have these beans on toast, with fish fingers, jacket potato or in a full English. These beans have been raised to another level. I promise you that you will never simply warm a can of beans and eat them plain again.

Ingredients:

· 400g can of baked beans

· 1tbsp butter

· 1tsp paprika

· ½ tsp onion powder/granules

· 1tsp cayenne pepper

· 1tsp thyme

· 3 dashes of Worcester sauce

· Serve with: toast, jacket potatoes, fish fingers, or whatever you like.

Cost of ingredients: £6.30 from Sainsbury’s — approximately £3.15 per serving

Method:

  1. Place all of your ingredients, apart from the Worcester sauce, into a pan.

2. Turn on the heat to medium-high and keep stirring the beans for two minutes or until the butter has melted.

3. Once the butter has melted, add your dashes of Worcester sauce and stir to combine.

4. Taste to see if you are happy with all the flavours. If you are happy, turn off the heat and serve with whatever you wish, making sure to garnish with freshly cracked black pepper.
