The Roehampton Poetry Centre, in collaboration with Wimbledon BookFest, will award talented poets from all around the world. The new prize is named after one of the most famous yet controversial figures of the 20th century — Robert Graves, who was a poet, novelist, critic, translator and an editor.

The winner of the competition will receive £200 and the following two places will be awarded £100. Additionally, all the entries that reach the podium will be published in ‘POEM’, a quarterly magazine of the Roehampton Poetry Centre.

Multiple entries are also accepted. However, they will be judged separately since the prize will be awarded for the single best poem submitted.

The judging panel will feature Prof. Fiona Sampson, director of the Poetry Centre and Peter Straus, centre’s chairman, who are both renowned poets.

The deadline for the submissions is on Wednesday, the 23rd of August. The awards will be presented during Wimbledon BookFest on Sunday the 15th of October, following lecture on Robert Graves by the vice-chancellor of the University of Roehampton, Prof. Paul O’Prey.

The prize is a third accolade given by the centre, after the Roehampton Prize and the Ruskin Prize.
