The aesthetics of stillness

When looking at the pictures made by Nikki, I get pervaded by a strange feeling of stillness; the subjects on the pictures exude silence, and the warm atmospheres are laden with a sense of nostalgia and elegance at the same time. Love becomes aesthetically tangible. Nature is a recurring element, but, above all, her subjects are completely at ease with the world. A world made by simplicity, a world accepted as it is. This is that sense of stillness that is silently emerging from her pictures.

Nikki (alias Satellite June) is a 27-year old Utrecht-based film photographer. Her pictures are always taken with natural light, creating an atmosphere that remands to a vintage and dreamy mood.
