So many of the social media platforms we use are turning to Story features to deliver quick, easily digestible content to our followers, and LinkedIn is the newest platform to add this feature.

With an estimated 500 million people viewing Instagram Stories every day, it’s a popular marketing tool for every type of business. So, there’s no wonder that LinkedIn is building this feature to help younger professionals connect with their more experienced peers.

LinkedIn Stories went live in the UK in June 2020, and it’s also available in Australia, Brazil, the Netherlands, and the UAE. While there’s no news when it’ll be launching in the rest of the world, we expect to see the USA join this list in a few months, shortly followed by the rest of Europe.

Tips for Using LinkedIn Stories for your Speaking Business

The significant difference between LinkedIn Stories and story features on other platforms is that your audience is more likely to be other professionals. This makes LinkedIn Stories a powerful tool for speakers on the conference circuit, industry expert speakers, and coaches, as the vast majority of our business comes from referrals.

With that in mind, here are our top tips for LinkedIn Stories.

Share Snippets of Past Speeches

Short snippets of previous speaking engagements can help to summarise your talents in an easily digestible way. You could share segments about relevant industry topics, use them as a conversation starter, or simply to demonstrate your knowledge. Slice’s experts can create and edit these videos for you so they’re ready to publish straight on your LinkedIn stories.

Host an AMA

There’s a reason why Ask Me Anything (or AMA) threads are so popular on Reddit, and it’s because it helps your audience get to know you outside of the work that you do. They’re also perfect for LinkedIn Stories, as it means your audience and connections can ask more about your work, your passions, your hobbies, and more. It’s a great way to foster a connection with people you want to network with.

Film Short Vlogs

Because LinkedIn Stories disappear after 24 hours, they’re a great place to address hot topics in your industry without those videos being attached to your profile forever. This encourages your connections to view your Story content when they see it. In addition, if you continue to upload every day, you can improve your brand recognition on the platform and cement your position as a thought leader in your industry.

Share “A Day In The Life”/”Work With Me Wednesday” Content

Both of these Story formats are already popular on other social media platforms, making them perfect for your LinkedIn Stories too. With this format, you can show your connections and other industry professionals how you like to work and what’s important to you, which helps to showcase your personality. By allowing your audience a glimpse into your daily life, it can help make them feel more connected and comfortable with you, and this can often translate to more valuable networking opportunities or requests for bookings.
