Training is Over. Now we must Do.
We have had five weeks of Ignite and “Phase 1” of the accelerator is over. The phase of crash courses, mentoring and guidance. It’s the phase where your business is generally twisted, turned upside down, shaken about, and even “exploded” by anyone and everyone that crosses your path. Ideas are tested. Assumptions are examined. Tyres are kicked.
As we have finished our “training”, all thoughts now turn to execution. The pieces have been pulled apart and reassembled, stronger. Now attention turns from training, to doing.
As we enter “Phase 2” I can’t help but be reminded of the famous scene between Luke Skywalker and Yoda, on Dagobah, in Return of the Jedi.
Luke: But I need your help. I’ve come back to complete the training.
Yoda: No more training, do you require. Already know you that which you need.
As we sit in Federation House (our Dagobah) I, like Luke, still feel there is so much to learn and so much we are learning. But focus must turn to action. We must face our Vader.
Thankfully, Federation House is a much nicer place than Dagobah, filled with all the other Ignite Teams and the lovely Co-op Digital Team, all of which are pitching together to help us, and us them. We really could not have asked for a better environment!
The Ignite Accelerator has been fantastic, and to any teams out there thinking about applying, I can wholeheartedly suggest that you do.
You will meet fantastic people, not least the mentors, investors and team that run Ignite — but just as importantly the alumni from previous Ignite cohorts, and most of all the other teams on the accelerator with us. Each team has now found a way to genuinely help another team.
For those reading this blog and wondering if you can help us, you certainly can! We are looking for:
1. Users — sign up yourself or get someone you know with a payslip to sign up. Every data point is another step forward in the move away from pay secrecy.
2. Partners — We are looking for Recruiters, Companies and Universities to work with. If you know anyone at all in these companies that might be interested in hearing more about what we are doing for salary and culture — introduce us!
3. Growth Hacking — The buzzword of buzzwords at the moment, but we are always looking for new and crazy ways to reach users. If you have any bright ideas, we’re listening.
Finally, we love feedback — so get in touch at email@example.com to give it.
