Tech Update #2

Greetings, fellow slingers!

Welcome back for the 2nd instalment of tech updates.

It has been an exciting week with the go live of the Liquidity Bootstrapping Pool (https://fjordfoundry.com/pools/polygon/0x574B348a951581B0a57d00db97473089e80CA2DB) and we have been excited to see so much interest in SlingShot.

The community has been quite active of late, and it seems people have a lot of good suggestions and ideas for future developments. Thanks and keep them coming!

We have had a few reports of people having failed/stuck transactions and have identified a number of these to be caused by the RPC provider set in Metamask. For those who have been affected, you can navigate to Settings > Networks > Polygon and set the RPC provider to a more reliable one such as https://polygon-rpc.com. If you would like to see a list of alternative RPC providers, you can find them here: https://chainlist.org/chain/137.

Anyhow, without further ado, let’s get to it!

What is in this release?

This week we have been mostly working on quality of life updates for ideators, making it easier to submit ideas.

In addition to this, we have been hard at work preparing for the end of the first epoch.

New Features

The ‘big’ update this week is the introduction of a new editor for idea descriptions. A lot of the members of the community who wished to submit an idea found the editor frustrating and limiting, so it was obvious that this needed a makeover.

Based on feedback, we have also added some improvements to the My Ideas section, and you can now create and delete ideas from there. Hopefully this will help keep abandoned draft ideas under control.

Fixes

We have fixed a number of issues affecting rendering of ideas, and updated the Slingshot logo on the app to use the newer design.

In addition to this, we have made some changes under the hood to better handle some edge case blockchain transactions and improved the efficiency of the app that checks the blockchain for Slingshot related events. In testing, the efficiency has been dramatically improved.

On a personal note

I have been impressed by the quality of the suggestions and the keen eye of a lot of community members spotting various snags within the app. I will be working hard to ensure that you guys get visibility of the progress made on these things. Please keep the suggestions coming in via the suggestions channel on Discord, and do not hesitate to let the team know if you have any problems whilst using the app or need a bit of assistance.

To end this update, I would like to thank the members of the community that have had issues for their patience while we have worked under the hood to get them resolved.
