Greetings, fellow slingers!

This release is slightly smaller than was intended, as some of the features intended for release today were included as part of a hot-fix last week. We do not like you guys waiting around for improvements, so we will always release things early given the opportunity!

What is in this release?

New Features

This release has included various countdowns to make sure that we all know when voting periods are starting and ending, small improvements to the display of ideas to highlight key information. We now also capture social media details from ideators in order for us to communicate with them about their ideas.

Here are some previews of the new features!

UI Updates
Social media capture
Idea submission cutoff
Next epoch start countdown

Fixes

Some frontend quirks that were being caught as errors have been better handled to remove them from being logged in the console.

Release Notes

Frontend:

  1. Countdown to next voting period upon the end of one
  2. Countdown to the submission date for inclusion in the next voting period
  3. Updated UI to better display rewards on ideas
  4. Capture communication information for ideators
  5. Better handling of some frontend errors
  6. Updates to the admin section UI

Backend:

  1. Added social media capture to the data layer
  2. Housekeeping of unused files

On a personal note

One of the biggest improvements captured through our feedback software Hotjar (the little icon in the bottom right of the dApp) was that people would like to be able to view community member profiles. Although not included in this release, we have been working on making public profiles a reality and we are looking forward to delivering this in the near future.

A lot of you guys are not Web3 natives, and have been found dealing with things like Metamask and different wallets/chains, a steep learning curve that not everyone enjoys. As such, I have been spending time looking at ways we can streamline this process, and considering the impact of adding social media login options as well as partnering with web3 custody providers to remove the need for people to use Metamask if they chose.

Much love,

Mike | Engineering
