In the first days of his presidency, Donald Trump’s actions have caused international chaos and alarmed Americans worldwide, including everyone here at Slow Factory. Before his election, many voters brushed off Trump’s promise to enact a “total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States,” dismissing it as too ludicrous or extreme to actually ever happen. Yet 14 days in, here we are.

It’s clear now that President Trump fully intends to do everything he said he would, starting with the Muslim Ban. But despite his attempts to swap terminology and weave legal loopholes, we can see through the muddied waters. His continuous equating of terrorism with all Muslims and all refugees not only distracts from addressing the real problem of radical extremists, but it creates widespread paranoia that then turns into discrimination and hate crimes.

At Slow Factory, our mission has become clearer than ever. I am a refugee immigrant and stand against muslim profiling and trump’s administration. As human beings sharing this earth, we must not allow this ignorance and prejudice to grow.

For the past 34 years I have lived in 25 different homes, so having to settle somewhere is not only hard but requires support from a community. As a universal community, we have to look beyond surface-level differences, and make connections with each other on a deeper level.

Slow Factory works to raise funds and awareness for causes that make us more humane towards each other and the planet. We the people have the power, we just have to work hard and step out of our comfort zone daily to own that power and make the change we want to see. We are in this together.

We Are One, On Mothership Earth.
