What is the objective?

To clarify your business model and consider the scale of your business

Why is this important?

What you deliver and how you deliver it makes a huge difference to how your business works for you and how profitable it is.

What do you need to know to do this?

You need to have absolute clarity around what is important to you and you need to know what delights your customers. It is the intersection of those that defines the parameters for your business model and the scale that makes sense.

The Project

In serving your first customers you did what was unsustainable to get valuable feedback and to learn. It’s time to take what you learned and apply a business model and scale that make it sustainable (and better).

The business model canvas and its many offshoots are great tools to use here. Chose a canvas and fill it in. We do regular Canvas-a-thons in the Small Business Academy.

How will you you know you have succeeded with this project?

You will have a clear business model and know the optimum scale to which you would like to grow.

What is important to carry on to the next projects?

You will continue to build your business and offer around your chosen business model and scale.

Every week I post the next Project. You are welcome to work on it here, ask questions in the comments, answer questions in the comments and let us know how you are doing.
