This is a first pass, so don’t stress about getting it perfect. Your ‘brand’ is something that unfolds more than is imposed. Your best bet is to a) be authentic and b) use your customers’ words.

What is the objective?

To clarify your message.

Why is this important?

Use the words and the message your customers are telling you speaks to them.

What do you need to know to do this?

Your brand is something that unfolds. It’s not something you can force. You need to know what your customers are saying about working you.

The Project

Let’s be clear. As Gary Vee says, “Your reputation is your brand.” so don’t go getting your branding done. It’s too early. The right way to do branding is to dive deeply into all the data you have around what your customers think about you. You don’t have enough of that information yet, but you do have enough to make a first pass at it.

At this point you know the words your customers use to describe their problem and what it takes to delight them. Use those words.

How will you you know you have succeeded with this project?

You will have your headline and your tag line. You may have some visual elements you can use, although don’t stress about that, yet. You will have words and phrases that are important to attract your best customers. Quote your customers directly!

What is important to carry on to the next projects?

As you move forward, keep using these words, phrases and any images/design elements.

Every week I post the next Project. You are welcome to work on it here, ask questions in the comments, answer questions in the comments and let us know how you are doing.
