UpLead is an online B2B sales intelligence platform helping businesses grow by quickly identifying and connecting with their next customers. It’s cloud-based platform gives you full access to over 30 million verified B2B business contacts and companies to connect with instantly.

Kevin William David interviewed Will Cannon, CEO at UpLead to know more.

Hi Will, So tell us about UpLead?

Uplead is a B2B data platform to find new customers and drive growth. Our database consists of 30+ million contacts worldwide across 200 countries with deep intelligence on each contact including direct email, phone number, contact title, industry, technologies used, social profile links and more. We track 2,500 technologies so UpLead users can build lists of prospects that use specific tech tools. In addition we also offer competitor intelligence and provide our users with data on companies most common email patterns.

Tell me more about the problem you are trying to solve?

I was in the lead generation and data industry as a consultant for about 10 years and a problem I consistently ran into was finding high quality verified data. I found most data providers had quality issues such as inaccurate and outdated data. I wanted to build a data company with the highest quality contact information.

How is UpLead different from what already exists in the market?

UpLead is the highest quality B2B contact email data provider on the market. The majority if not all data companies in our space update their data in cycles, such as every 30–90 days. Our B2B email contact data is verified in real time when a user downloads or exports a contact ensuring near 100% email deliverability at the time of download. Though it seems as it should be commonplace, no other major providers offer this.

Can you tell us a bit about the different customer segments using UpLead?

Companies of all sizes and types use UpLead, but we have seen a heavy concentration in the Information Technology & Recruiting/Staffing sectors. Roles vary and include Owners/CEO’s, Sales, Marketing, Business Development and Account Executives.

How are your customers using UpLead? Could you share a few different use cases?

Cold Emailing — Solopreneurs and sales teams use UpLead to build prospect lists to send cold outreach emails to.

Account Based Marketing (ABM) — Account executives use UpLead to find key contacts emails and phone numbers within their target accounts.

B2B Marketers — Use UpLead to find decision maker contact information.

Were there any early ‘growth hacks’ or tactics that have contributed to your current success?

We eat our own cooking, we use UpLead to build targeted prospect lists that meet our ICP and we then use Woodpecker to reach out and introduce our platform. It’s worked very well for us.

What were some of the biggest challenges while building the product early on and how did you solve them?

Working with a distributed team has been challenging at times, keeping everyone on the same page and focused without directly being in the same location. Trello and a few other tools have definitely helped with that.

What have been some of the most interesting integrations you’ve added? Are there any that have been particularly impactful for you?

We have a Salesforce integration so our users can push contacts/companies directly to Salesforce, we also have an API. We’re looking to add more integrations this year.

Before we end, What are the top products that you depend on to run the company & how do you use them?

Trello — A must have for distributed teams.

Streak CRM — We use Streak inside gmail for CRM, it’s really simple and easy to use.

Woodpecker.co — We do outreach via Woodpecker.co which has worked great for us, automating a lot of our outreach.

Braintree Payments — We use Braintree to process payments.

Baremetrics — We have Baremetrics for our analytics and revenue/churn tracking.
