It’s Careless Not to Show Up For Yourself

Your future grandchildren deserve to have you there

“It is a disgrace to grow old through sheer carelessness before seeing what manner of man you may become by developing your bodily strength and beauty to their highest limit.”

― Socrates

Just for today…

It’s not your fault.

You have work that takes up a lot of your time and energy.

Maybe you even have kids that take up any time and energy you have left.

You might even have a partner who is experiencing the same thing, making it even harder to get into a healthy routine.

And if you have to spend any other free time on a side hustle to make some extra cash…game over.

Incredibly difficult to focus any time on your health.

I wouldn’t call that carelessness.

In fact, you probably care a lot about your health and fitness. It’s just that there’s no time or energy to fit it in.

That’s all for today.

What?

You thought I would let you off the hook?

Here’s the thing, for many people:

  • Fitness sucks.
  • Exercising sucks.
  • Eating healthy sucks.

On the other hand:

  • Living a long life can be pretty cool.
  • Watching your children grow into adults would be ideal.
  • Experiencing your children having their own children that you can spoil would be seriously special.

So at the very least, get outside for a 5-minute walk today.

Tomorrow, make it 6 minutes.

Build up the time.

Turn it into a jog.

Turn that into a run, or bike ride, or whatever.

Who knows, the way compounding works, maybe every 20 minutes of exercise extends your life by another day.

Of course, there isn’t proof of that.

But there’s also no proof it isn’t true.

Just 5 minutes today.
