“When you stop expecting people to be perfect, you can like them for who they are.”

- Donald Miller

Just for today…

Think about someone you know you’re going to interact with today.

Maybe it’s a loved one, maybe it’s a friend, or maybe it’s a colleague, doesn’t matter.

There’s a certain way you are with that person, and that comes with certain expectations. These expectations are built over time of knowing and interacting with that person.

Allow yourself to be surprised by him or her today. When you feel yourself “knowing” what they’re going to say or do, stop.

Consider you have no idea.

Allow them the space to be who they are and you might discover something new. Even if you have known that person for a long time.

Listen intently for what you didn’t know they were going to say or do.

Whatever you look for you’ll find, so look for something new.

What might surprise you is what they discover about…you.
