#013 — Small Talk with Monkixx — Wil Benton
Finally, the first episode of 2017 for Small Talk. Its been a busy period and taking a while to get some episodes penciled in with people but this one was a cracked! Wil Benton, the founder of and Fat Kid on Fire and co-founder of Chew joined me and Kieran RöuteÖne Wilson LIVE for a chat. We streamed the whole thing live on Chew TV, and opened up a live Q&A to Wil.
The podcast has come at a very important time for Chew TV, after recently hearing about some illegal streaming being done on the platform over December, resulting in some heavy usage fees. As a result Chew are looking at some help to keep them a float, and to pay these extortionate fees. The Save Chew campaign is currently running, with a GoFundMe page to try to raise a big chunk of the funds needed, so please please go and donate there if you haven’t already.
During the podcast we discuss the campaign, exactly what happened and whats coming for the future of Chew TV. Wil spoke to us about his journey through coming to London and falling in Love with Techno and Dubstep, then creating the FKOF blog and how that grew in to one of the biggest underground music blogs worldwide. We then go on to talk about how he met Ben and created Chew TV. The live stream then opened up to the chat to ask some questions as we hosted a live Q&A session. It really is an insightful chat, and obviously Wil is a massive head within the Dubstep scene so it was amazing to sit down and talk with him.
